Product Description:

Sapphire (single‑crystal Al₂O₃) offers a unique combination of optical and mechanical properties that directly solve industrial window challenges:

 

  • Extreme temperature resistance – Usable from cryogenic (-200°C) up to 2000°C in inert or oxidizing atmospheres. No softening, no devitrification.
  • High pressure tolerance – Compression strength > 2 GPa. A 5 mm thick sapphire window withstands differential pressures exceeding 10,000 psi (690 bar) when properly mounted.
  • Chemical inertness – Unaffected by most acids (including HF, HNO₃, H₂SO₄), alkalis, solvents, and process gases (Cl₂, H₂S, NH₃). Only molten alkalis or hydrofluoric acid above 300°C cause attack.
  • Abrasion resistance – 9 on Mohs scale. No scratching from scouring solids, catalyst fines, or manual cleaning with metal tools.
  • Broadband transparency – 0.2 µm to 5.5 µm (UV to mid‑IR). Suitable for vision systems, laser diagnostics, pyrometers, and UV curing monitoring.
  • Non‑porous, non‑outgassing – Vacuum compatible to 10⁻¹⁰ mbar. Zero moisture absorption, no organic binders to contaminate your process.
